what can be done to attract bigger audiences to UK films.
Hollywood films have always been the pinnacle of movie making and the UK's film industry has been lagging behind, this is down to many things such as the budgets of the movies also the fact that British actors are less exposed than American actors. When you think of big production companies you think of Paramount and Universal etc, however you do not think of production companies such as Film 4. This is a problem because in all forms of film making the UK is 2nd to USA, which means they will have to rely on forms of USA's film industry, this is evident when British films use American actors i.e Julia Roberts in Notting Hill, and are distributed by American production companies this is evident in Harry Potter which is distributed by Warner Bros.
Things that British films can do to attract bigger audiences are by using sociel network sites such as Facebook and Twitter, they could also use internet video sharing sites such as Youtube. The reason they should advertise on the internet is because this is becoming more popular and easily accesed in comparison with T.V.
An example of a British film which used the internet to advertise its film is Harry Potter which was on both Facebook and Youtube. Another technique used by modern films is that they all have their own website, on the website you can get details on the film, watch clips of the film and chat with other fans on the sites forum.
The original way to advertise movie was using the word of mouth, this has been modernised by a technique used by Avatar which is where they showed a 20 minute clip of the film and encouraged them to tell others what they have seen and asked them on their opinion, this means they can give the audience a taster without ruining the film this makes them curious and so they want to watch the rest.
If the British film industry uses all these techniques they will bring in bigger audiences in the future.
